Actually I've been meaning to mention a nice bit of statistical theory called Extreme Value Theory on here for some time, because not so many people seem to be aware of it, but somehow I never got around to writing about it. Biography: I graduated with a B.S. Asymptotic Statistics (Cambridge Series in Statistical and Probabilistic Mathematics) by A. In statistics from Nankai University (China) and a Ph.D in statistics from Purdue University. A more advanced monograph is "Weak Convergence and Empirical Processes" by Wellner and van der Vaart.
